David J. Boczar, CFP®, CFA has been associated with Westport Resources since 2006 and is a Professional Affiliate and an Investment Advisor Agent. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Certified Financial Planner professional, David also holds the following securities licenses: 7, 63, 24 (principal), 16 (supervisory analyst), 65 (investment advisor), and 86 & 87 (regulatory research analyst). He additionally holds insurance licenses in life & health, long term care partnership (CT and NY), and property & casualty.
David provides financial guidance and counsel to individuals, families and small businesses. He crafts strategies related to asset management, retirement planning, life insurance, estate planning, educational funding, business succession, and long-term care needs. With over 25 years of experience, David offers institutional-based investment skills, emphasizing the importance of top-notch client service. He serves his clients in a comprehensive manner by understanding their overall family or business needs, which he believes is pivotal in creating an environment for financial success. David’s investment research and banking work has taken him to Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. He began his career as a credit analyst working for Mutual Benefit Life, and later for MCM, an independent bond rating agency, where he evaluated corporate bonds and managed bond portfolios. David then helped New Japan Securities International–a leading global financial services firm –develop its U.S. equities presence, later becoming head of U.S. equities research. In 1994, he joined the boutique research firm, Value Investing Partners, where he became Chief Operating Officer and U.K.-subsidiary Branch Manager. In 2003, he joined MetLife Financial Services, where he began developing his client-focused financial planning practice.
A frequent guest on radio broadcasts and financial forums, David is a member of several organizations, including the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and the Financial Planners Association, along with civic and charitable organizations such as the Easton Exchange Club, which is focused on the prevention of child abuse, the First Presbyterian Church of Fairfield trust fund, and the Easton-Redding Regional School District #9 pension committee.
David holds B.A. degrees in Business Administration and English from Rutgers University, and an MBA and a certificate in International Business from Seton Hall University.
