Herbert C. Rosenthal, CLU®, ChFC®
Municipal & Business Planning Specialist
Herbert C. Rosenthal specializes in municipal benefit programs with a unique understanding of issues confronting towns and cities. For five terms, he served as First Selectman, the Chief Executive Officer, of the Town of Newtown and its 28,000 residents. Mr. Rosenthal also served as Chairman of the Newtown Board of Education and was Chairman of the Board of Education Connection, serving 33 towns in Northwestern Connecticut, for ten years.
Mr. Rosenthal has been affiliated with Westport Resources since 1987. His risk management activities include life insurance, disability income and employer benefit programs, group insurance, retirement plans and executive compensation programs. He holds an insurance producer's license for life; annuities; accident and health; and property and casualty. He also serves Westport Resources’ client needs in the area of personal financial planning.
Mr. Rosenthal currently serves as a Newtown Selectman, a member of the Board of Health for the Newtown Health District, and as Treasurer of the Housatonic Valley Resource Recovery Authority.
He is a corporator of the Newtown Savings Bank and a member of the President’s Advisory Council of Masonicare at Newtown, a nursing home and assisted living facility.
Mr. Rosenthal’s past accomplishments include: President of the Western Connecticut Estate and Tax Planning Council, a two-term President of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Inter-Local Risk Management Agency, Chairman of the Housatonic Valley Council of Elected Officials and Co-Chairman of the Housatonic Valley Economic Development Partnership.
Mr. Rosenthal has a B.A. in Government from Fairfield University and holds the CLU® and ChFC® designations from American College.
